Understanding How a Virtual Summer Leadership Institute Can Contribute to Enhancing Instructional Capacities of Educators

Thu, April 8, 5:00 to 6:00pm EDT (5:00 to 6:00pm EDT), Division C, Division C - Section 3a: Learning Environments Poster Sessions

Abstract

In this study, we investigated the perceptions of 43 educators who attended a virtual summer leadership institute (VSLI) related to their satisfaction about the SLI. We studied (a) the degree to which they were satisfied with the SLI virtual delivery; (b) perception of two research-based instructional tools provided in the VSLI including the LEADER Model; and (c) recommendations those participants might have to help the VSLI team better improve it in the future. Given the current situation of COVID-19 and the difficulty for educational leaders to communicate face-to-face with their teachers and teachers with students and their parents, equipping educational leaders in a different learning environment with virtual instructional tools that could assist them in advancing instructional capacities
