In Event: Teaching and Leading in the Middle Grades: Exploring Elements of the Middle Grades Concept
The use of multiple learning and teaching approaches is fundamental to successful middle school creative learning environments. In this study, six middle school teachers described creativity, creative teaching and learning, and the use of creative pedagogies they experienced in their core subject classrooms. Narratives and responses to a questionnaire were used as data to explore the descriptions, affordances, and constraints of the participants' creative identities and pedagogies. Themes and patterns of their collective experiences hold implications for teacher educators who support pre-service and in-service middle school teachers.
