Women are still underrepresented in mathematics spaces across the world. Also, there was a significant drop in research investigating women's experience in mathematics because of the closure of the so-called achievement gap. This study aimed to examine how mathematical spaces have impacted the experiences of mathematics women undergraduate students in the USA, creating limit-situations for them. Results indicated that women's conditions in those spaces are still relatively affected by the needs women have to "be what they aren't" or negotiate success and attend to places where they can just feel safe, which is not always the best place. Implications for changes in mathematical spaces are provided.
