Virtual-Reality Job Interview Training in Pre-Employment Transition Services: A Dose Effect Analysis

Thu, April 8, 1:00 to 2:00pm EDT (1:00 to 2:00pm EDT), Division H, Division H - Section 1 Roundtable Sessions

Abstract

A recent study evaluated the implementation of virtual reality job interview training (VR-JIT) among 279 transition age youth (TAY) receiving special education pre-employment transition services. VR-JIT engagement was found to increase the likelihood that TAY would obtain employment by 6 month follow-up. The current study evaluated whether there was a VR-JIT dose response in the study sample. Findings suggest that the completion of 9 virtual interviews reflected the most efficient dose of VR-JIT across the whole sample. Meanwhile, the most efficient dose among the various IDEA categories varied from 5 to 15 virtual interviews. The results will inform school districts who have begun implementing VR-JIT amidst the COVID-19 pandemic and a future randomized controlled trial to validate VR-JIT effectiveness.
