Session Type: Symposium
We address a critical component of accepting our educational responsibility: the diversification of the teaching force. As such, we enter into a conversation that has already started, but which is as of yet unresolved: what are the particular assets and struggles affecting teachers of Color and the critical ways that they can and must be supported? We invite educators and scholars to nuance our understandings of the experiences of teachers of Color, pushing against monolithic representations that homogenize the assets and struggles of a wide group of people. Doing so is a critical move for fortifying and recommitting ourselves to our educational commitment to the children and the teachers in our schools.
