Session Type: Symposium
The aim of this symposium is to illustrate multiple examples of how women negotiated the complex socio-cultural experiences within academia, related to race, gender, leadership, academic field, and institutional constraints, especially those resulting from COVID-19 and racial inequities. This cross-cultural peer-mentoring international women’s network accepted its educational responsibility and strategically addressed challenges experienced by women in academia. The insights gained from research across these six papers continue to affirm women’s co-mentoring pedagogies as a sustainable actionable practice. The collective findings suggest that women in higher education can surmount the challenges in academia through collaborating with other women who can be a source of community, strength, and support, especially during a pandemic.
