Session Type: Symposium
This symposium reconvenes a panel of educational psychologists who gathered at AERA in 2018 to share their “360 view of learning” inspired by Patricia Alexander’s article, Past as Prologue: Educational Psychology’s Legacy and Progeny. Due to the pandemic, the higher education landscape has changed dramatically since the original symposium. Yet, we find Alexander’s framework still serves as a compass, pointing us to the essential role that educational psychology must play during this challenging time to ensure that quality teaching and learning is upheld. With Patricia Alexander as discussant, panelists share a 360 “re-view of learning,” as they discuss themes of psychologizing education, learning as a core construct, and an appreciation of human variability in light of the current educational landscape.
