Session Type: Symposium
What does it mean to learn more strategically, how are students motivated by different strategies, and how can we promote the use of better learning strategies? This interdisciplinary symposium brings together diverse scholars who aim to gain a deeper understanding of self-regulated learning by drawing together cognitive, social, and educational perspectives. In doing so, they employ both controlled laboratory experiments and natural classroom studies to examine different aspects of strategic learning. Their findings weave a rich picture of the dimensions of strategic control and motivation, the interplay of individual and contextual factors, and point to specific paths forward. The presenters and discussant will discuss implications of these findings for future research and educational interventions.
