Session Type: Symposium
Global relations, national events, and local contexts of 2020 have increased the pressure on teacher educators to prepare teachers who are global-citizen-scholars with the competencies to educate responsibly toward greater equity and inclusion. Teaching responsibly as global-citizen-scholars calls upon teachers to know students’ background histories and experiences, use this knowledge to develop culturally responsive pedagogies that are diverse and inclusive, and inculcate a habit of ongoing reflective practice. In this proposed session, we present research conducted by teacher educators who have opened teacher preparation to global, international, and transnational collaborations for working with multiple stakeholders in preparing teachers who are global-citizen-scholars.
