The purpose of this panel is to illustrate findings from three research projects that integrate learning sciences and the disciplinary perspectives of mathematics education with measurement and assessment to design, implement, and evaluate classroom assessment based on learning theories. This panel will illustrate a series of nuanced problems associated with developing classroom assessments based on learning theories in mathematics and present innovative solution frameworks.
Designing Classroom Assessments With the Use and Users in Mind - Leanne R. Ketterlin-Geller, Southern Methodist University; Jennifer R. McMurrer, The George Washington University; Tina Barton; Cassandra Hatfield, Southern Methodist University
Supporting Mathematics Teachers in Integrating Rigor Into Assessment Items or Tasks - Deborah M. La Torre, University of California - Los Angeles
Development of a Measure of Early Mathematics Achievement Based on Learning Trajectories - Julie Sarama, University of Denver; Douglas H. Clements, University of Denver; Crystal A Day-Hess, University of Denver; Christopher Wolfe; Shannon Stark Guss, University of Denver
