Session Type: Symposium
This symposium explores the innovative use of frameworks to advance the project that is the dehumanization and re-humanization of learning spaces for Black youth from multiple perspectives including leadership, mathematics learning, and teacher learning. The six papers span different methodological and theoretical approaches to creating frameworks that allowed insight into harm done or progress made when moving beyond traditional framings steeped in colonial, white, patriarchal epistemologies. Collectively, these papers embrace the AERA 2021 theme of accepting educational responsibility by demonstrating how, when one cannot find a suitable analytical framework within existing educational research, they must contribute new ones.
