Session Type: Demonstration/Performance
Exploring issues of equity and social justice are heavy topics for societies to grapple with in general. However, they are particularly challenging conversations to have in school settings. In the classroom, educators are increasingly turning to media technologies to help them grab and hold the attention of their students. In this demonstration, researchers explore the use of podcasts and documentaries to aid university students in deconstructing injustice and identifying systemic inequities. The presentations provide a peek into the use of these visual and audio media tools. At the same time, the resulting discussions will aid educators interested in employing these educational research practices at their institutions.
