Session Type: Structured Poster Session
We share research that examined teacher, family and community learning during the pandemic-driven school closures in the spring of 2020. The portfolio includes a range of approaches including remote diary studies with parents, design-based research with families, school case studies, and community ethnographies. Our collective goals are to (1) generate insights about the ways that families, teachers, and communities innovated to learn during this time and (2) inform the conversation about the benefits and drawbacks of remote methods to study learning, including questions about new relationalities and ethical dilemmas. This session will address fundamental questions about how families learn under conditions of duress and will set the stage for discussions about the future of remote data collection approaches.
