Session Type: Symposium
COVID-19 has created a tremendous challenge worldwide. However, as much damage as the virus itself has caused, more damage has been caused by hostile relationships and divisiveness: racial discrimination, political divisions, the exclusion of the foreigners, tension between governments and their peoples, stress, depression and anxiety. Instead of fighting COVID-19 together as a united human race, the pandemic has been marked by violence, racism, xenophobia, ethnic cleansing, and genocide. This symposium will examine these challenges from a variety of perspectives including philosophy, psychology, history, and education from both the east and the west. It will present alternative solutions both in terms of comprehensive theoretical frameworks and also in terms of useful practices.
