Session Summary

Researcher-Practitioner Partnerships for Developing and Assessing Informal STEM Learning Experiences

Mon, April 12, 2:50 to 4:20pm EDT (2:50 to 4:20pm EDT), SIG Sessions, SIG-Learning Sciences Structured Poster Session

Session Type: Structured Poster Session

Abstract

In this session we reflect upon opportunities and challenges in designing and assessing informal STEM learning experiences developed through partnerships between researchers and organizations that create and support informal learning. We bring together a diverse collection of scholars, museum practitioners, program directors, and evaluators to address two queries: 1) What are the innovative and socially conscious ways that STEM learning has been cultivated in informal learning spaces through researcher-practitioner partnerships (RPPs), and 2) What are the different strategies, tools, and methods that are effective for facilitating RPPs for informal learning design? Our overarching aim is to explore the ways that researchers and practitioners can work synergistically in accepting educational responsibility when it comes to inclusive and equitable informal learning designs.
