Session Summary

Exploring the Possibilities of an Embodied Dialogic Praxis for Personal Transformation and Collective Liberation

Mon, April 12, 11:10am to 12:40pm EDT (11:10am to 12:40pm EDT), SIG Sessions, SIG-Critical Educators for Social Justice Paper and Symposium Sessions

Session Type: Demonstration/Performance

Abstract

This demonstration is a dynamic, participatory introduction to the complexities of facilitating and engaging in Intergroup Dialogues (IGD) on race and ethnicity. Led by collegiate IGD Program co-facilitators and building on our experiences facilitating in-person and online dialogues, we will explore the theoretical frameworks behind our unique approaches to dialogic pedagogy and praxis. We, ultimately, hope to expand participants’ understandings of dialogue to be both a relational and internal process that is deeply embodied and a key component of personal transformation, collective liberation, and dialogic wholeness.
