Session Type: Symposium
The purpose of this symposium is to understand how institutional practices shape the experiences of Latino males in community colleges. Using multiple asset based theoretical frameworks, the symposiums inform our understanding about how students experience community college and the practices that help them navigate through the community college and beyond. Collectively, these papers examine the role of multiple actors serving as conduits for success for Latino male community college students. The authors ask the audience to reconsider their understanding of Latino males and how services are structured within community colleges to support the different needs of Latino males. We provide tools for policy and practice.
