Session Type: Symposium
This panel is organized to help audience members understand and use assessment as a positive force to support the development of more skillful and impactful works of performance-based research. The session begins with a brief excerpt from the film from a long running ethnodramatic project “Chicago Butoh: The Studio@620 Performance.” The panelists then provide the audience with three frames of reference to assess this work: a partnership frame, a critical and community-based frame, and a frame that uses an influential system of assessment in arts-based research, the Great Wheel. Small and whole group discussion are structured into these presentations. The session will conclude with a response by two leading scholars of performance-based research.
