Session Type: Workshop
In an effort to reclaim space at AERA for Black, Indigenous, and women of color (BIWOC) knowledge systems, this 90-minute workshop uses principles of prolepsis and praxis to facilitate critical reflection for BIWOC educators. Through the process of multi-modal (visual, audio) collective reflection, storytelling and listening, and art-making, participants will enact learning practices that present a relational orientation across our unique histories and standpoints so that we may engage in social dreaming together. Our learning will be memorialized through the creation of two artifacts: a zine co-created by all workshop participants and an art piece cultivated through visual notetaking. By centering counter-hegemonic ways of knowing, we seek to embody the theories of teaching and learning that BIWOC have championed.
