Session Type: Invited Speaker Session
Accepting educational responsibility in teaching and teacher education means that we must be ready to address racist violence and injustices plaguing our society. We are being called upon to recognize, listen, and understand the pain, outrage, and exhaustion fueled by the pervasive white supremacy and anti-Blackness in our schools, universities, streets, and society. This session is designed for graduate students across divisions and members of Division K. Panelists will discuss actionable steps toward developing authentic anti-racist praxis in our work. Panelists will discuss ideas for participants to individually and collectively demonstrate greater care in our conceptualizations of teaching and teacher education so that we can truly teach toward democracy in solidarity with communities most impacted by injustice.
