Division K Graduate Student Executive Board Invited Session. Accepting Responsibility to Confront Racial Injustice: Action for Healing and Equity in K–12 Schools

Abstract

Aligned with the 2021 AERA theme of “Accepting Educational Responsibility”, the purpose of Invited Session is to create a space for graduate students and scholars to engage in conversations that focus on two overarching questions: 1) What does 'accepting educational responsibility' mean for those in teaching and teacher education? 2)How do our researcher positionalities and research interests create opportunity, illuminate, and/or complicate our understanding of 'accepting educational responsibility' in teaching and teacher education? This panel will challenge participants to think critically about links between our identities, research, and work in teacher education in efforts to ‘accept responsibility'.
