STaR keynote session will engage attendees in a conversation about the repurposing of public schools. The talk aims to open up this discussion with a critique and challenge to the field that begins with the position that schools across the nation have and will continue to fail the most vulnerable children because they are designed to do so. The speakers will offer a proposition in light of the window of opportunity presented by our present moment in history to finally meet the challenge of developing classrooms, curriculum, and cultures that repurpose schools to focus on the wellness of children above all else by introducing the Youth Wellness Index (YWI) as a viable way to make this repurposing of public schools possible.
