Session Type: Invited Roundtable
Teacher education across the globe is increasingly buffeted by changing policies and reform agendas, many of which are not informed by research. This session features researchers from 15 countries who have formed the Global Teacher Education Consortium, with the aim of investigating the consequences of teacher education policy on: teachers and teaching; teacher educators; schools and their communities: pupils and their learning; and, education systems as a whole. After an introduction, participants will interact in breakout sessions in which presenters will discuss teacher education policy and research in a particular national context and the implications for: teacher education research more broadly; issues of equity and preparing teachers for super-diversity contexts; and, early career teaching.
