Financial support for community-based youth organizations and youth programming is fueled by private sector concessions and opportune philanthropic investments only available through racialized stratification. This mixed-methods ethnography explores how educational philanthropists and administrators in community-based youth organizations understand race, racism, and youth programming in relation to philanthropy. Results show that education philanthropists see youth organizing as an ideal type of youth program for investment only under certain circumstances. Within some foundations, there are significant efforts to better understand and support youth programming aimed at race.
