The Dine Family Resource for Culturally Responsive Curriculum and Pedagogy

Mon, April 25, 2:30 to 4:00pm PDT (2:30 to 4:00pm PDT), San Diego Convention Center, Exhibit Hall B

Abstract

The 2020-21 school year on the Navajo Reservation was a year when children attended school remotely either in virtual classrooms or with weekly instructional packets which were sent to their homes. Children will return to the in-person classroom in August 2021 with new resources for learning at home and with new support for learning from their families. We pause at the end of this year to reflect on the strength and resilience of Dine families, teachers and children and to reflect on lessons learned which may transform the classroom for the future to include families and culturally responsive curriculum and pedagogy.
