Measuring Impact: Evaluating Educational Efficacy by Beliefs, Attitudes, and Intentions (Poster 13)

Abstract

This evaluation studied teachers’ intentions to access, and use in instruction, digitized artifacts from the Library of Congress, as they were taught in a program. This evaluation also studied the beliefs that theoretically formed their intentions. A qualitative instrument elicited teachers’ beliefs about likely results of their teaching with the artifacts. These beliefs were content analyzed into stems for the quantitative items in the final instrument. Quantitative data were analyzed by multiple regression, and correlation. Intentions were strongly related to attitude and norm, and these predictors accounted for a large amount of variance in intention. Beliefs were strongly related to the variables they theoretically formed. There are implications for formative and summative evaluation.
