Mon, April 25, 9:45 to 11:15am PDT (9:45 to 11:15am PDT), SIG Virtual Rooms, SIG-Critical Issues in Curriculum and Cultural Studies Virtual Roundtable Session Room

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to explore a sample of Muslim refugee college students and the ways in which they experienced a sense of belonging in their respective institutions. Using theoretical frameworks of Otherness and Sense of Belonging, the study explores to what extent and in what ways these students feel a sense of belonging. Findings contribute to the growing body of work on the unheard voices and experiences of students who are often marginalized and on the fringe in academic settings.
