Design the Curriculum of Online Maker Education Using Educational Artificial Intelligence Tools in the COVID-19 Situation

Abstract

This study introduces the curriculum of online maker education using AI tools. The major goal is to make students learn the concepts of coding, AI through online lesson and creatively solve the life-related problems with making AI artifacts. This study aims to examine the optimal characteristics of online learning environments and features of AI tools for designing online maker education curriculum in K-12 education and wanted to see its effects on learners’ Computational Thinking and Creative problem solving. A total of 24 fifth grade students participated in the study. Paired t-tests on CT and CPS revealed that the curriculum of online maker education using AI tools enhanced the mastery of both competencies.
