Reexamination of the Job Demands–Resources Model During COVID-19: Teachers' Concerns and Their Needs for Support

Abstract

Using Job Demands-Resources (JD-R) Model as a theoretical framework, this study examined the relationship between teachers' concerns during the global pandemic and their level of need for additional support from education leaders considering school characteristics. Structural Equational Model (SEM) results indicated observed variables of teachers' concerns and their need for additional support load on their affiliated latent factors. As hypothesized, teachers' need for additional support from education leaders significantly predicted the teachers' concerns. The final model showed that remote instruction and higher minority status gave rise to the latent factor need for additional support, suggesting that teachers in these schools have a higher level of need for additional support in academic, technologic and motivational aspects of teaching.
