Mon, April 25, 9:45 to 11:15am PDT (9:45 to 11:15am PDT), SIG Virtual Rooms, SIG-Stress, Coping, and Resilience Virtual Paper Session Room

Abstract

Mental health crises are on the rise for youth, and emerging research indicates that the coronavirus pandemic has led to increases in adolescent depression and anxiety. Through integration of peer mentorship and equine assisted learning, this participatory study investigates risk factors and agentive responses for youth exposed to traumatic events and chronic stressors. Implications advance theoretical, methodological, and practical understandings surrounding informal education as related to youth resilience, mental health, and agency.
