Students' Satisfaction About the General Foundation Program in Oman: Scale Development and Validation

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to examine the psychometric properties of a newly developed measure, the Student Satisfaction with Mathematics Scale (SSMS), for undergraduate students (i.e., the General Foundation Program in Oman). Using cross-validation, the psychometric properties (i.e., validity and reliability) of the scores on the SSMS were evidenced.
Different psychometric analyses were applied to evaluate the satisfaction instrument. Exploratory Factor Analysis (EFA) and Confirmatory Factor Analysis (CFA) were used to address the two research questions and to provide evidence of internal consistency reliability for each factor.
The results provide evidence of the theoretical model (i.e., the relationship between observed variables and latent constructs) specified.
