A decade has passed since the first literature review on narrative inquiry in teaching and teacher education. That review appeared over two decades after narrative inquiry was introduced (Connelly & Clandinin, 1990), despite narratives existing since the beginning of humankind (Barthes, 1995). Give that another decade has lapsed and that the pressure to publish has increased with the spread of neoliberalism (Shore, 2010), it is important to examine the narrative inquiry research published between 2011 and 2021 to assess current topics, trends and issues. The research method’s future also will be examined with respect to the opportunities and challenges that may lie ahead.
