Psychometric methods must be used when developing measures of school belonging for undergraduates. The University Belonging Questionnaire (UBQ; Slaten et al., 2018) has been validated for White undergraduates, but limited evidence has been collected on whether the instrument is valid for use with students from other ethnic backgrounds. The present study examined whether measurement invariance held for the three UBQ subscales when comparing Asian and White students, Asian and Hispanic students, and Hispanic and White students attending a Hispanic Serving Institution. We found the UBQ subscales were invariant for all comparisons when international students were not included in the sample and when comparing Asian domestic and Asian international students, measurement noninvariance was found.
