Are "Pandemic Candidates" Prepared to Teach?

Mon, April 25, 11:30am to 1:00pm PDT (11:30am to 1:00pm PDT), San Diego Convention Center, Exhibit Hall B

Abstract

Scores on two performance assessments, the edTPA and the Candidate Preservice Assessment of Student Teaching (CPAST), were compared between teacher licensure candidates in face-to-face clinical experiences and candidates in remote teaching clinical experiences. No statistically significant differences appeared in the edTPA comparison. For the CPAST, candidates were rated higher in the area of instruction and lower in the area of assessment. Implications for assessing teacher candidate performance in remote teaching experiences are discussed.
