E-Health Education and Obesity Prevention: New Challenges for Teachers and Educators

Abstract

The present study constitutes a first working basis for experimenting tele-medicine opportunities in primary and secondary prevention contexts. We present the results of an exploratory research aimed at investigating the perceptions of 357 students of Educational Sciences and Primary Education Sciences on the social impact of obesity and on citizen/patient involvement in informed lifestyles with health and quality of life outcomes. a Computer Assisted Web Interviewing (CAWI) questionnaire was proposed, consisting of 11 closed-ended and 20 open-ended questions. The first findings highlighted not only the strong connections between educational and clinical knowledge but also the urgent need to build an educational knowledge capable of realizing the person’s empowerment for active participation in highly digital social and health systems.
