The Way From Feedback Environment to University Students' Learning-Related Emotions: Examining the Mediating Role of Feedback Orientations

Abstract

Feedback is powerful for affecting learning and achievement. However the relationships between feedback environment, feedback perceptions and learning-related emotions of university students remain understudied. Based on the Control-Value theory (Pekrun et al., 2007), the present study examined the relationships between these variables with a sample of 277 Filipino university students. We found feedback environment promotes hope through increased feedback self-efficacy. Feedback environment is associated with enjoyment directly with no significant indirect effect through feedback orientations. Feedback environment is associated with decreased anger through feedback utility. Theoretical and practical implications will be discussed.
