Abstract

In this study, we examined how the Agricultural Science Professional Development (ACRE) Project, an agricultural literacy professional development, enhanced equity in eight secondary agriculture classrooms throughout Mississippi. Utilizing the Equity Framework in Career and Technical Education (Kim, Black, Parham, & Wohlstetter, 2021) we examined the equitable barriers that the eight secondary agriculture teachers faced in their schools and how the ACRE Project might alleviate some of those challenges. Our findings revealed that the eight teachers all faced barriers in their schools from two of the areas identified in the theoretical framework: a) educational adequacy in CTE, and b) equal treatment in CTE. Our findings also revealed that the ACRE Project helped alleviate the educational adequacy barrier.
