Abstract

During the pandemic, many teachers moved face-to-face instruction to an online format quickly to reduce the spread of COVID-19. With little guidance or support for disciplinary content learning, teachers spent their time learning how to use the tools to communicate with students in synchronous or asynchronous settings. Our goal was to understand the ways teachers conceptualize teaching and learning in an online environment where students can view the same physics lessons synchronously or asynchronously. What types of pedagogical practices are teachers using in their instruction? We discuss three types of pedagogical practices most often used by physics instructors to teach the content.
