The Gift of Disruption: Feeling/Communicating Subverted Truths at the Intersection of Racist/Ableist Practices

Mon, April 25, 2:30 to 4:00pm PDT (2:30 to 4:00pm PDT), Marriott Marquis San Diego Marina, Floor: North Tower, Ground Level, Pacific Ballroom 24

Abstract

Within this dual critical autoethnography, we ground a spiritual paradigm in the qualitative critical social sciences to produce a culturally minded reflexive epistemological stance on power. Our conceptual framework focuses on how we experienced God’s Agape love on display in our lives, as illustrated in our counternarrative vignettes. We position that God’s Agape love is a powerful force for transforming individuals and groups’ radical self-love. We asked, in what ways do we feel and communicate subverted truths as we analyze our abridged vignettes? We (re)analyze, (re)view, and (re)visit our existing vignettes. We reconsider a previous 4-year study of ours to speak, feel and communicate deficit thinking and language from our lives.
