Theory to Practice: Understanding Opportunities and Challenges of Women Leaders in Higher Education

Abstract

This presentation explores the constructs of theoretical frameworks to connect to the practices of women leaders in higher education organizations. The opportunities and the challenges of women leaders in higher education is discussed based on what theory tells us. Constructs from feminist theory, intersectionality, relational of culture, and styles of leadership are presented. Throughout the presentation, women leadership roles are evaluated using examples under the theoretical lens. The presentation will conclude with a discussion of future research and potential practice of moving through levels of women leadership in higher education.
