This paper uses CRT and white ignorance to examines how institutional racism is maintained when individual actors suggest racist policies, advocate for them, remain silent or struggle to disrupt them. It is insufficient for school leaders to address the repercussions of racist policies. They must be able to recognize that a proposed policy has racial implications. In keeping with the conference theme, Cultivating Equitable Education Systems for the 21st century, I contend that education leaders must be able to recognize educational inequities in order to disrupt them.
