Abstract

Examining evidence of learning and demonstration of skills is the primary approach for measuring student learning outcomes. However, incorporating the faculty perspective on their definition of teamwork and how they integrate teaching and assessment in their courses provides critical information for understanding the context in which students learn the skills. Better understanding of the faculty perspective will help guide resources for supporting course instruction and design and illuminate the range of outcomes within an institutions’ general education courses. In this study, we explore faculty definitions of teamwork and their approaches to teaching and assessing teamwork skills in their courses.
