This qualitative research documents the findings of a place-based education program implemented in a rural Mid-Atlantic region of the United States. The participation and contributions from youth that came from this research help to inform curriculum designed with the rural child in mind. In particular, curriculum that promotes youth’s engagement with place, matter, and made materials and technologies can dually support the modern rural child and stewardship for community and place.
