Co-Designing Interdisciplinary Computer Science Curricula With Storylining to Promote Teacher Agency and Learning (Poster 1)

Abstract

Educational co-design is a strategy where researchers and teachers can work as partners to create curricula. This process aims to value teacher expertise, support teacher agency, and provide a supportive environment in which teachers can hone their disciplinary understanding and professional practice. Co-design has yet to gain traction in the computer science education community. This proposal examines themes around teacher agency and teacher learning across three independent co-design projects where secondary teachers and researchers created interdisciplinary computer science curricula. Building on our findings, we argue that co-design should be a more common practice when designing computer science curricula especially as the field aims to broaden disciplinary participation.
