Put Your Money Where Your Mouth Is: An Exploratory Case Study of Faculty Views of a Striving Institution

My exploratory case study investigates the faculty work experience at a striving institution. From data from 28 interviews with faculty from striving institution, my findings suggest that faculty at a striving institution are situated at a university in an identity crisis which creates a series of frustrations for faculty. My study offers recommendations for practice to address aspects of these challenges, but also identifies the need for further research to get at the heart of challenges faculty face at striving institutions. Overall, the present study adds to the current literature on faculty work and striving institutions.
