The authors draw from Chicana feminist methodologies to examine the gendered and racialized experiences of Latinx/a* doctoral colegas enrolled in the same doctoral cohort at an emerging Hispanic-Serving Institution (eHSI) in the southwest. To illuminate their journeys as first-year, first-generation Latinx/a* doctoral students, the authors explore how they navigated doctoral socialization through the use of consejitos. Findings are presented using a composite counternarrative utilizing data from a collaborative autoethnography centering their journeys through a global pandemic as first-year, first-generation Latinx/a* doctoral students. Future recommendations for research and practice are provided.
