Abstract

As positive characteristics of individuals with disabilities are more closely associated with increased quality of life across multiple domains (Biggs & Carter, 2016), practitioners including special education teachers should recognize and understand the positive characteristics of students with disabilities to cultivate such strengths as a means of improving their quality of life. We have developed an indirect measurer of positive characteristics of students with disabilities by adopting the EPOCH measure (Kern et al., 2016). Pre-service special education teachers completed the EPOCH indirect questionnaire with their students with disabilities and provided comments on its usefulness as a practical tool to assess positive characteristics of students with disabilities.
