The Antiracist Equity Tool: Practical Consideration for Measuring Fairness of School Practices, Policies, and Procedures

Abstract

There are few equity audit tools targeting schools and districts that systemically assess and review the fairness of policies, programs, and practices with a special focus on race and ethnicity. An educational non-profit in the Mid-Atlantic region that supports schools, districts, state agencies, community-based organizations, and families with achieving equity for all students, has developed such an instrument. This paper will introduce the Antiracist Equity Tool, and highlight key findings from using this tool in one of the largest school districts in the United States to help identify areas for systemic improvement.
