Abstract

The purpose of the present study is to examine factors related to teacher motivation for online teaching and learning, specifically focusing on efficacy for teaching online. Data for this quantitative study was collected by administering the Online Teaching Motivation Scale (OTMS), a self-report instrument designed to measure factors contributing to teachers’ motivation for online teaching and learning. Multiple regression analysis revealed significant relationships between teachers’ efficacy for teaching online and the following factors: perceived administrative support, perceptions of online learning, mastery orientation for teaching online, and grade band. Implications of these results and future research directions are discussed.
