Professional Identity Development for Latina/o/x First-Generation Mid-Level Student Affairs Professionals

Abstract

Professional identity is often influenced by educational and career experiences. This paper focuses on the professional identity development of 22 Latinx/a/o student affairs mid-level professionals who identified as first-generation college students. Preliminary findings indicate that family values and varying forms of capital are woven into Latinx/a/o professional identity development.
